BTTS predictions (both teams to score)
"Both teams to score" asks a simple question: will each team score at least one goal?
Last updated:
Definition and settlement
BTTS Yes wins when both teams score at least once in regular time (1-1, 2-1, 3-2 …); BTTS No wins when at least one team fails to score (0-0, 1-0, 3-0 …). Extra time does not count.
How the probability is calculated
From each team's expected goals the models compute the probability of every score. BTTS Yes is the sum of all scores where both teams have at least one goal. Roughly, it is the chance the home team scores multiplied by the chance the away team scores, adjusted for the dependence between the two.
What drives BTTS
- Both teams creating chances (high attack xG).
- Weak or rotated defences.
- Matches where neither side has a reason to sit deep.
FootIQ's BTTS rules
FootIQ publishes BTTS Yes or No only at 65% probability or higher, because bookmakers rarely price BTTS much above 70% and lower picks carry little information. See the track record for results.
